Today, most rural youth migrate to cities and take up daily wage or blue collar jobs, thereby leaving the villages and the heritage sites uncared for. Aalayam Kanden Trust wishes to partner with skill development organisations to train these youth as heritage guides, photographers, heritage homestay providers and heritage wardens who would conserve and protect heritage artefacts in their area. By creating awareness about lesser known heritage sites, more people are mobilised towards these sites and their needs are met by these trained people who not only earn a regular livelihood through this initiative but also ensure their local heritage is sustained.
